Neil Haddow - #Cardiff17
My fundraising for Blue Cross has been going well, so far once my second jersey auction is finished I'll be just over £600.
I'm aiming to get at least £1000 myself for our team target.
So far I've carried out 2 jersey auctions selling off my entire jersey collection of elite league, recce and NHL/ECHL/KHL jerseys. I've also got my game worn top that I will be wearing at the tournament to be auctioned off for the event.
I've also carried out a few bets with our teammate's, one being a shirt of hurt which involved the loser having to wear the chosen top of the winner. Unfortunately i lost so I've got to wear a Braehead Clan top and as a Fife Flyers fan that's a BIG hurt but a bet is a bet fair and square.
I know a few of the guys who have played for the last couple of years and they speak highly of the weekend. Being able to play in Ice Arena Wales as well is going to be a great experience to play in another one of the top UK arenas for our sport and infront of so many fans who will be coming to support the event.
I've got a few more plans including a kit walk, some more auction stuff from formula 1 to football and in between to raise more funds.
I'm pumped looking to play my first All Stars tournament and get stuck in to what's going to be a great weekend of hockey with my brother, nephew and girlfriend plus some friends coming down to the weekend to help enjoy it with me and the rest of the team.
I knew of the event via David Paul, Reece Paul and Gareth Houston who played before. David Paul is the reason i started playing hockey and also as a Netminder so I've got a lot to thank him for getting me back into my childhood sport after 16 years away from it. This is my first rookie year as a player and as a Netminder but it's been a really enjoyable one with all of the Scottish goalies all helping each other out, we've trained with each other a few times as well as most of the players from north of the border as well knowing each other quite well it'll help for to make an awesome weekend on all fronts with friends and teammates old and new.
I currently play for the Highlanders Ice Hockey team based in Fife Ice Arena and approaching my first full year in the sport as a player
