Final Pro Allstars line-up revealed

With Friday’s Pro Allstars game just a few days away, the rest of the line up can be revealed with a further 11 player announcements. Face-off is at 7.30pm at Ice Arena Wales.

All the Game worn jerseys of the players listed below will go on auction in the bar of the arena following the game. We also invite any email bids for fans who cannot make it to the event. Each jersey has a reserve price of £100.

If you wish, an Allstars organiser will bid by proxy for you. Please state in your email your maximum bid and we will bid in the room in £10 increments until you are successful or your maximum bid is reached. we will NOT automatically bid to your maximum bid. 

You will be able to make payment by Card on the night (in person).

Joining Ian Coopers Ice Hockey Players Benevolent Fund team (red jerseys) are:

Paul Sample – Great Britain international Sample, split his Elite League playing career across Belfast, Sheffield and Cardiff before captaining his home town team Newcastle Vipers. He retired in 2011 to concentrate on running his North-East based bar and restaurant chain, Lola-Jeans.

Matt Foord – The veteran of more than 800 games, mainly for Slough, Bracknell and Swindon, also earned numerous Elite League call ups for London Racers, Nottingham Panthers and Cardiff Devils.

Richie Hargreaves – Bristol Pitbulls player-coach for the last 8 years iced for 2 appearances for Cardiff Devils scoring 3 assists. He also appeared for Isle of Wight, Basingstoke, Slough, London, Swindon and Oxford.

Completing Max Birbraer’s SCIPS team (blue jerseys) are:

Hilton Ruggles – Goal-scorer extraordinaire Ruggles’ 17 year UK ice hockey career spanned across Whitley Bay, Solihull, Manchester, Newcastle, Coventry and of course 3 successful years in Cardiff where he holds the Club record of 100 goals scored in a single season.

Alan Armour – There can be few players who enjoy their hockey as much as 41 year old, Armour who’s fun loving style is appreciated by home and away fans alike. No stranger to Cardiff, the Swindon Junior product has spent the last 2 seasons with the Championship winning Cardiff Fire.

Michael Stratford –Also a Swindon junior product, but at the opposite end of his career to Armour, is 6’4 winger Stratford. The 20 year old came through the Okanagan Hockey Academy ranks before experiencing senior ice hockey with Swindon Wildcats and Manchester Phoenix. Stratford will be a regular at Ice Arena Wales this season as he recently signed for Cardiff Fire.

Merv Priest – British-born, Canadian-trained Priest returned to his homeland with Telford Tigers before becoming a key player for Basingstoke, Cardiff and Great Britain. He also headed arguably the most successful era of Cardiff Junior Development, producing future GB internationals such as Jonathan Phillips, Phil Hill and Matthew Myers.

Kenton Smith – Kenton arrived in Cardiff via Valpellice in Italy following a distinguished career in the North America’s ECHL and a previous season in the EIHL for Manchester Phoenix. Following his 3 year spell in Cardiff he headed to Braehead then Swindon, where he also performed a coaching role.

Mark Smith – Mark, joined his brother Kenton at the Devils for the record breaking 2010-11 staying for 4 seasons before moving to Coventry and enjoying Play-off Championship success. A further spell back in Cardiff was followed by spending last season in the EPL with Swindon Wildcats.

Lee Richardson – Having just announced his retirement from professional ice hockey, Lee has kindly agreed to lace up his skates for one more game. His 17 year professional career was predominantly with his hometown club Swindon, also appearing for Coventry, Bracknell and Slough as well as a single season in Cardiff alongside his brother Mark.

Les Millie – Kirkcaldy born and trained Millie, will best be known to Cardiff ice hockey fans for his successful spell in the 90’s with arch-rivals Sheffield Steelers. The prolific goal scorer continued to light the red lamp across a number of teams until his retirement in 2009.
